Overview of Laboratory Pure Water System
Date: 2025-04-21Read: 6

The laboratory pure water system is a device used to prepare high-purity water, which removes impurities such as ions, organic matter, and microorganisms from the water to meet the water quality requirements of different experiments. Its core goal is to produce pure water that meets international standards, including ultrapure water, analytical grade pure water, and general pure water.

1、 System classification and water quality standards

1. Grade I ultrapure water: used for high-sensitivity experiments.

2. Grade II pure water: used for routine chemical analysis, microbial cultivation, etc.

3. Grade III RO reverse osmosis pure water: used for basic purposes such as laboratory cleaning and high-pressure sterilizers.

2、 Core technical principles

1. Ion exchange: using resin to remove ions from water, often combined with RO to improve purity.

2. UV oxidation and ultrafiltration: UV lamps decompose organic matter, and ultrafiltration membranes remove bacteria and endotoxins.

3. Reverse osmosis: By forcing water through a semi permeable membrane under high pressure, dissolved salts, microorganisms, and organic matter are removed.

4. Electrodeionization: Combining electrodialysis and ion exchange, ultrapure water can be continuously produced without chemical regeneration.

3、 Core module

1. RO unit: primary or secondary reverse osmosis to reduce ion load.

2. Purification unit: mixed resin bed or EDI device for further desalination.

3. Preprocessing: multi-media filtration, activated carbon adsorption, softening, etc., to protect subsequent equipment.

4. Storage and distribution: 316 stainless steel or PVDF pipelines are used to avoid secondary pollution.

4、 Design optimization

1. Maintenance convenience: Modular design, quick replacement of filter elements and resin.

2. Circulating pipeline: Flow rate control suppresses microbial growth, and pipeline length is recommended to be ≤ 250 meters.

3. Online monitoring: Real time detection of conductivity TOC、 Microbial and other parameters ensure stable water quality.

5、 Application scenarios and selection suggestions

1. Conventional experiment: A Class II pure water system can be used, with RO+IX as the core.

2. Industrial grade requirements: Customized systems, reverse osmosis, EDI, and efficient adsorption technologies are needed.

3. High precision experiment: It is necessary to choose a Class I ultrapure water system equipped with EDI and ultrafiltration modules.
