What precautions should be taken when using a planer?
Date: 2025-10-11Read: 24
As a specialized slicing equipment for traditional Chinese medicinal materials, decoction pieces, and other materials in the pharmaceutical industry, the standardized use of slicing machines directly affects slicing accuracy, material cleanliness, and operational safety. It is necessary to combine the cleanliness requirements of pharmaceutical production with the operating characteristics of equipment, and implement precautions throughout the entire operation process, as follows:
1、 Preparation before startup: Identify potential hazards and ensure basic conditions
(1) Equipment and environmental inspection
Confirm that the equipment is placed on a flat and stable ground, the rack is not shaking, and the anchor bolts are tightened without looseness. Check that the power cord is firmly connected, the insulation layer is not damaged, the grounding device is reliable, and avoid the risk of leakage. The operating area needs to be cleaned up, with no accumulation of debris, leaving sufficient operating space, and ensuring good ventilation to prevent dust accumulation.
(2) Component and Material Verification
Check the installation status of the blade: Confirm that the blade is sharp without any gaps or deformations, the blade orientation is correct, it is firmly fixed with fastening bolts, and the gap between the blade and the tool holder is uniform (to avoid uneven slicing thickness). Check the cleanliness of components such as the feeding hopper and conveyor rollers that come into contact with the material, ensuring no residual materials or oil stains, and meeting GMP cleanliness requirements. If necessary, wipe them clean with purified water and air dry them.
Material pre-treatment is required: remove sediment, impurities, and hard stems from traditional Chinese medicine, cut the material to a size suitable for feeding (length not exceeding the width of the feeding port), avoid direct feeding of damp and adhesive materials, and prevent blockage of the feeding channel or affecting the quality of slicing.
(3) Lubrication and functional testing
Check the lubrication of equipment transmission components (such as bearings and gears), add specialized lubricating oil as required, ensure that the oil level meets the standard, and there is no oil leakage. Before starting up, perform a no-load test: Start the equipment and observe whether the blades and conveyor rollers run smoothly without any abnormal noise or jamming. The emergency stop button, safety barrier, and other safety devices function normally. Only after confirming that there are no errors can the material be fed.
2、 Running operation: standardize processes, strengthen monitoring
(1) Feeding and parameter adjustment
The feeding should be uniform and uniform to avoid blockage of the feeding port caused by a large amount of feeding at once. The feeding auxiliary tool can be used to push the material straight and prevent the material from tilting and causing slicing deviation. According to the material characteristics and slicing requirements, adjust the slicing thickness (such as 0.5-3mm range) through the equipment adjustment knob. After adjustment, first try cutting a small amount of material, check the uniformity of slicing thickness, and then produce normally if it meets the requirements.
(2) Running status monitoring
Closely observe the quality of the slices: If there are broken slices or uneven thickness, stop the machine to check the sharpness of the blades, the moisture content of the material, or the feeding speed, and adjust them in a timely manner; If the conveyor roller slips, adjust the roller shaft pressure appropriately to ensure stable material transportation.
Pay attention to the operating status of the equipment: Monitor the temperature of the motor and transmission components. If overheating (such as bearing temperature exceeding 60 ℃), abnormal vibration or noise occurs, immediately stop the machine and cut off the power for troubleshooting. It is forbidden to operate with faults. At the same time, pay attention to the collection of materials, clean the collection containers in a timely manner, and avoid material accumulation and overflow.
(3) Safety operation standards
Operators are required to wear protective gloves and dust masks. Long hair should be tucked into a work cap to prevent clothing and hair from getting caught up in moving parts. When the equipment is running, it is strictly prohibited to insert hands, tools, etc. into the feeding port and blade area. If material residue needs to be cleaned, the machine must be stopped and the power must be cut off first. It is prohibited to place tools, materials, and other miscellaneous items on the equipment to prevent them from falling and affecting the operation of the equipment or causing safety accidents.
3、 Post shutdown handling: Clean and tidy up to ensure equipment status
(1) Shutdown and residual material cleaning
After stopping feeding, keep the equipment running without load for 1-2 minutes, drain any remaining materials from the equipment, then turn off the power switch and disconnect the main power supply. Disassemble detachable components such as blades and feeding hoppers, clean surface material residues with a soft bristled brush or compressed air, and clean parts that come into contact with materials with purified water. After drying, reinstall to ensure that there are no material residues that may cause mold or cross contamination.
(2) Equipment cleaning and maintenance
Use a dry cloth to wipe off dust and oil stains on the surface of the equipment, with a focus on cleaning the operation panel and adjustment knobs to maintain a clean appearance of the equipment. Check the wear of the blade. If there are gaps or passivation on the blade, it should be polished or replaced in a timely manner. When replacing the blade, the power should be cut off to ensure safe operation.
(3) Record keeping and environmental organization
Fill in the equipment usage record, detailing the startup time, shutdown time, types of materials processed, number of slices, problems encountered during operation, and the handling methods. Clean up the operating area, classify and store tools and remaining materials, keep the environment clean, and prepare for the next use.
