Although injection water and sterilized injection water can be used interchangeably to some extent, there are significant differences between the two as follows:

1. Production process:

-Obtained by distilling purified water, it is distilled in a specially designed distiller, condensed and cooled, and then filtered through micropores to ensure that the water quality meets the standards for injection production.

-Sterilization of injection water requires more complex processes. On the basis of injection water, it is further processed according to the production process of injections to ensure that it does not contain any additives and undergoes strict sterilization treatment.

2. Purpose:

-Injection water is generally used for preparing medication, while sterilized injection water is suitable for direct injection and more complex medical procedures.

-The application of sterilized injection water is more extensive, mainly used for clinical water, such as solvents for sterilized powder for injection or diluents for injection, as well as flushing of endoscopes.

3. Quality standards:

-Although both require compliance with pharmacopoeia requirements, the requirements for sterile injection water are more stringent. The pharmacopoeia has detailed regulations on its acceptance criteria, testing methods, and storage conditions.
