The working principle of a small automatic inkjet printer
Date: 2025-04-22Read: 0
The working principle of small automatic inkjet printers is mainly based on continuous inkjet technology (CIJ) and on-demand inkjet technology (DOD), which achieve non-contact printing through a precision control system. The specific process is as follows:
1、 Core workflow
1. Ink supply and atomization
Ink is transported from the ink storage device to the spray gun or nozzle through pipelines under the action of a pressure pump. Some models use compressed air to assist in atomization of ink, ensuring the uniformity of ink droplets.
2. Ink droplet formation and charging
Continuous type (CIJ): The crystal oscillator inside the nozzle breaks the ink into ink droplets with fixed spacing and uniform size through high-frequency vibration, and then the charging electrode applies a charge to the ink droplets (the charge amount matches the preset information).
On demand (DOD): Piezoelectric crystals or thermal foaming devices instantly drive nozzles based on control signals, directly generating independent ink droplets without the need for charging.
3. Ink droplet deflection and inkjet printing
When charged ink droplets pass through a high-voltage deflection electric field, they undergo different angles of displacement based on the amount of charge, accurately landing on the surface of a moving object to form dot matrix characters/graphics; Unincharged ink droplets are directly sent to the recycling system for recycling.
4. Recycling and Recycling
Unused ink droplets or excess ink are returned to the ink storage device through the recycling tank/pipeline, reducing waste and maintaining system stability.
2、 Collaborative effect of key components
1. Nozzle: The core executing component, including micron sized nozzles (such as 60 micron aperture) and piezoelectric crystals/oscillators, responsible for ink droplet generation and ejection.
2. Control system: Embedded chips or CPUs handle the printing content, adjust the inkjet frequency, position, and charging parameters in real time, and ensure high-precision output.
3. Drive mechanism: controls the relative motion between the nozzle and the product, supporting high-speed and continuous printing.
4. Ink system: includes filtering, temperature control, and circulation functions to prevent clogging and maintain stable physical properties of ink.
3、 Technical classification and applicable scenarios
1. Continuous Inkjet (CIJ)
Suitable for high-speed production lines (such as food and drug packaging), it can print small characters and has low maintenance costs.
2. On demand inkjet (DOD)
Piezoelectric technology is often used for high-resolution coding (such as electronic components), while thermal foaming is commonly used in low-cost scenarios.
4、 Drying and Durability
After printing, solvent based ink achieves instant drying through rapid evaporation or UV curing, ensuring clear labeling and friction resistance.
