The precautions for using ultra-high viscosity conveying pumps mainly include the following aspects:
• Selection and installation: Before using ultra-high viscosity conveying pumps, it is necessary to select the appropriate type based on factors such as viscosity, density, temperature, and chemical properties of the conveying medium. At the same time, it is necessary to consider the requirements of the pump's working pressure, flow rate, and head, as well as the installation location, environmental temperature, and humidity conditions. After the selection is completed, the installation should be strictly carried out according to the installation specifications to ensure that the pump body, flange or support has sufficient rigidity to reduce the vibration and noise generated during operation. An elastic coupling should be used to connect the motor and pump, and the coaxiality and tilt angle should meet the requirements.
Environmental assessment and basic construction: Ensure good ventilation, suitable temperature and humidity, and no risk of corrosive gas or liquid leakage in the pump room. Check if the ground is flat for the stable installation of the pump body. The foundation construction should be designed and constructed based on the weight and size of the pump. The foundation should be sturdy, level, and leave sufficient space for the maintenance and repair of the pump.
Pipeline connection and electrical wiring: Connect the inlet and outlet pipelines correctly according to the design drawings, ensuring tight and leak free pipeline connections, and reasonable pipeline routing and support to reduce additional stress on the pump body. Connect the power line, control line, and grounding wire correctly according to the electrical drawings, ensure that the electrical wiring complies with safety regulations, and undergo professional inspection and confirmation.
Pre start inspection: Check if the pump body, motor, and accessories are intact, if the fasteners are loose, and if any foreign objects have entered the pump. For components that require lubrication (such as bearings), check whether the lubricating oil is sufficient, clean, and add or replace lubricating oil as required. Check if the sealing device of the pump is installed correctly, if the sealing surface is clean and undamaged, and apply lubricant appropriately. Manually rotate the pump shaft and check if it rotates smoothly and if there are any blockages. Check whether the power supply voltage and frequency match the motor nameplate, whether the control circuit is normal, and whether the protective device is sensitive.
• Operation monitoring: During the operation of the pump, closely observe whether the parameters such as pressure, flow rate, temperature, and vibration of the pump are normal. At the same time, pay attention to whether there are any abnormal sounds or odors inside the pump. Establish a regular inspection system to regularly check the operation status of the pump, including pump body temperature, vibration, seal leakage, motor current and voltage, etc. Record the operating parameters of the pump for the purpose of analyzing changes in pump performance and troubleshooting.
• Shutdown maintenance: Before shutting down, the outlet valve should be closed first, and then the power should be cut off to stop the motor from running. For pumps equipped with insulation devices, hot water (steam) should be preheated before starting up, and the pump should be started after the temperature rises to the required level for the conveying process. Before shutting down, the pump should be stopped before turning off the hot water (steam). The mechanical seal device equipped with cooling water should first turn on the cooling water before turning on the pump, and regularly observe whether the cooling water is normal.
• Special precautions: Avoid operating under conditions that exceed the pressure, flow rate, viscosity, temperature, pH value, solid content, and other limiting conditions used for selection. For the transportation of solidifying high viscosity media, the medium inside the pump should be diluted before stopping the pump to prevent the high viscosity medium from remaining in the pump and solidifying. After conveying the medium that will thicken and condense after cooling, it should be run with cleaning solution for 5-10 minutes in a timely manner after the operation is completed to clean the inner cavity. Regularly check whether the pressure gauge, safety valve, and overcurrent protection device are functioning properly.
