The working principle and wide application of high-pressure homogenizer
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 7
A high-pressure homogenizer is an industrial equipment that achieves material homogenization through ultra-high pressure (up to 60000psi) and mechanical action. Its core working principle includes a triple action mechanism of shear force, impact force, and cavitation effect. When the material passes through the narrow gap of the homogenization valve (usually less than 0.1mm) driven by a high-pressure pump, a high-speed jet of 150-200m/s will be formed. During this process:
1. Shear force: velocity gradient causes droplet deformation and rupture;
2. Impact force: The droplet collides with the valve body or internal structure at high speed;
3. Hole effect: Sudden pressure changes trigger bubble explosion, further crushing particles.
High pressure homogenizers are mainly used in the following fields:
1. Food industry: Homogenization of low viscosity materials such as dairy products (milk, ice cream), fruit juice, sauces, etc. to enhance taste stability;
2. Biopharmaceuticals: cell wall breaking, liposome preparation, and nano drug dispersion;
3. Chemical and Materials: Fine processing of environmentally friendly materials such as nanocellulose and polyamide fibers;
4. New energy: Uniform dispersion of battery electrode materials to improve energy density.
Technical advantages of high-pressure homogenizer:
1. Green manufacturing: Pure mechanical processing reduces the use of chemical additives, reducing energy consumption by about 20% compared to traditional methods;
2. Efficient and energy-saving: Operating at room temperature to avoid high temperature damage to active ingredients, such as biomolecule extraction;
3. Multifunctionality: It can adapt to different material requirements by adjusting pressure (usually 10-150MPa), temperature, and homogenization times.
