Ammonia safety valve, also known as liquid ammonia safety valve, is a safety valve for ammonia. It mainly consists of three parts: valve seat, valve core, and loading mechanism (pressure spring). It is used as a device for overpressure relief and emptying of liquid ammonia storage tanks. When the pressure inside the equipment is within the set working pressure range, the force exerted by the internal medium on the valve seat is less than the bearing pressure of the loading mechanism, and the valve tightly presses against the valve seat without discharging the medium. When the pressure inside the equipment exceeds the specified working pressure and reaches the opening pressure of the safety valve, the internal medium pushes the valve to rise under the pressure, causing the valve to leave the valve seat and the safety valve to open. The medium inside the equipment is then discharged through the valve seat. If the safe displacement is greater than the safe release capacity of the equipment, the pressure inside the equipment gradually decreases, and after a short period of discharge, the pressure returns to normal working pressure. At this point, the force exerted by the internal pressure on the valve seat is smaller than the force exerted by the loading mechanism. The valve seat is tightly pressed by the valve seat, and the medium stops being discharged. The equipment maintains normal working pressure and continues to operate. So, the safety valve closes or opens by itself through the fluctuation of the force of the medium on the valve disc and the force of the loading mechanism to prevent equipment overpressure and pressure relief.
Installation points for ammonia gas relief valve:
1. Newly installed safety valves should be accompanied by product qualification certificates and factory inspection reports. Before installation, they should be recalibrated, sealed with lead, and issued with safety valve calibration.
2. For the installation of spring type safety valves, there are many things we need to pay attention to. The first thing to note is that before installing the safety valve, the sealing performance must be tested. If the safety valve leaks or the air cushion is damaged, it should be replaced immediately to ensure better use.
During the installation process, the first prerequisite is that for all components of the safety valve, everyone needs to pay attention to using vertical installation and installing them at the gas phase interface position of the container or pipeline. The installation angle should be precise and regular, and tools should be used for corresponding assistance, so as to effectively make the installation smooth and effective.
Secondly, when installing a spring-loaded safety valve, it is important to remind everyone not to apply pressure at the outlet of the valve. It is best to leave the outlet empty to allow the valve to function effectively, resulting in a better user experience and installation,
5. The outlet of the safety valve should be unobstructed to avoid back pressure. If a discharge pipe is installed, its inner diameter should be larger than the outlet diameter of the safety valve. The discharge port of the safety valve should be protected against freezing, and the discharge pipe should be directly connected to a safe outdoor location or have proper external treatment facilities. No valves are allowed to be installed on the discharge pipe.
6. Another thing to note is that when ensuring safety, it is best for operators to wear appropriate gloves and tools to avoid oil stains and other issues from sticking to the safety valve disc. This will affect the sealing function of the safety valve and may also damage the entire service life of the safety valve, providing better assistance to everyone.
7. Finally, it should be reminded that at least two operators must be present during the installation of the spring-loaded safety valve. After installation, it should not be put into use immediately, but should be tested effectively to ensure that the safety valve can work normally before being put into use.
