Stainless steel products are street entrances made of stainless steel materials, which are acid and alkali resistant and meet the SUS304 food hygiene level. They include stainless steel cabinets, trash cans, etc., and are certified. Due to its smooth and sturdy surface, resistance to dirt accumulation, and ease of cleaning, stainless steel products are widely used in fields such as building materials decoration, food, catering, brewing, and chemical engineering. Smooth surface is an important characteristic of stainless steel products, and it is of great significance for maintaining the normal function of stainless steel products. Therefore, the polishing process of stainless steel products is very important.
The main goal of polishing stainless steel welded parts is to remove the welding points and achieve a surface roughness of R10um, preparing for light emission. Below, the editor will briefly introduce the relevant knowledge of polishing stainless steel products, as follows:
1. Visually inspect the workpiece that has been transferred to the polishing process in the previous step, such as whether there are any missed welds, weld penetrations, uneven depth of weld points, deviation from the joint too far, local depressions, uneven docking, deep scratches, bumps, severe deformations, and other defects that cannot be remedied in this step. If any of the above defects are found, they should be returned to the previous step for repair. If there are no defects mentioned above, proceed to this polishing process.
2. Fine grinding, using a 1000 # sand belt, is mainly used to correct and grind the small lines that appear in the previous process. The grinding method is the same as above. The goal of this process is to achieve a basic disappearance of the seam between the ground part and the unground part of the workpiece, further brightening the surface of the workpiece. The workpiece ground through this process should be close to a mirror effect, and the surface roughness of the workpiece should reach R0.1mm
3. Semi precision grinding, using an 800 # sand belt to grind the three sides of the workpiece according to the method of back and forth grinding in the previous process, mainly to correct the seams that appeared in the previous process and further fine grind the imprints generated after rough grinding. The imprints left by the previous process need to be repeatedly ground until the surface of the workpiece is scratch free and basically shiny. The surface roughness of this process should be able to reach R0.4mm. (Note that this process should not produce new scratches or bumps, as such defects cannot be repaired in subsequent processes.)
4. Coarse grinding, using a 600 # sand belt to grind the workpiece back and forth on three sides. The goal of this process is to remove the welding points left by the workpiece welding, as well as the bumps that occurred in the previous process, to achieve preliminary formation of the weld fillet, with no major scratches or bumps on the horizontal and vertical surfaces. After this process, the surface roughness of the workpiece should reach R0.8mm. Pay attention to the inclination angle of the sand belt machine and control the pressure of the sand belt machine on the workpiece during the polishing process. Generally speaking, it is more appropriate to form a straight line with the surface being thrown!
