Introduction to the workflow and usage precautions of pre filled needle filling machine
Date: 2025-11-13Read: 4
Pre filled needle filling machine is a filling equipment used in the process of drug packaging, especially for liquid drugs for injection. Pre filled Syringe (PFS) is commonly used for packaging injectable drugs such as vaccines, insulin, etc. Its advantage lies in improving the safety, convenience, and accuracy of drugs. The pre filled needle filling machine ensures that the dosage and product quality of the drug meet the requirements by accurately filling the drug into the syringe.
Workflow of Pre filled Needle Filling Machine
1. Preparation stage:
-Cleaning and disinfection: Before starting the operation of the pre filled needle filling machine, it is necessary to thoroughly clean and disinfect the filling components and equipment to prevent cross contamination. Drug containers (such as pre filled needles, syringes, etc.) also need to be cleaned and sterilized to ensure compliance with sterile requirements.
-Drug preparation: The drug solution usually needs to be filtered and defoamed to ensure that there are no bubbles or impurities, and to avoid affecting the quality and filling accuracy of the drug. During the preparation process, the medicinal solution generally needs to be maintained within a certain temperature range to avoid deterioration or crystallization.
2. Filling system:
-The medicinal solution is sent into the filling tank of the filling machine through a precise conveying pipeline. According to the specifications of the pre filled needle and the viscosity of the drug, filling machines usually use equipment such as piston pumps, peristaltic pumps, or precision pneumatic pumps to ensure precise delivery of the drug solution.
-During the filling process, the filling head (usually a slender needle like structure) will be docked with the pre filling needle, and the specified dose of medication will be injected into the syringe through precise control of the pumping volume. At this point, the pressure, flow rate, and filling time of the filling machine need to be adjusted according to the properties of the drug.
3. Syringe testing:
-After the liquid medicine is filled, the automated detection system of the pre filled needle will inspect each syringe, and the main detection items include:
-Drug dosage: Ensure that the drug dosage of each pre filled needle meets the standard through electronic weighing or visual inspection equipment.
-Bubble inspection: Check for the presence of bubbles in the medication solution, as bubbles may affect the accuracy of drug dosage.
-Appearance inspection: Check the syringe for defects such as leakage and cracks.
-Needle inspection: Check whether the needle is flat, sharp, and ensure that there are no defects.
4. Sealing and packaging:
-After filling is completed, the pre filled needle will automatically enter the sealing process. Generally, rubber stoppers are used for sealing to ensure the sterility and sealing of drugs.
-After sealing, the machine will perform a final inspection to confirm if the seal is secure and free from contamination.
-Subsequently, the completed pre filled needles will be automatically transported to the packaging system for secondary packaging, including boxing, labeling, and other operations.
Precautions for using pre filled needle filling machine
1. Pre operation inspection:
-Equipment inspection: Before operation, ensure that all components of the filling machine are running normally, check the liquid delivery system, filling head, pump, and electrical system to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
-Cleaning and disinfection: As drugs come into direct contact with equipment, cleaning and disinfection are crucial, especially to ensure that the contact area of the drug solution is sterile. The cleaning and disinfection procedures should comply with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
2. Drug characteristics:
-Viscosity adjustment: The viscosity of the medication may change with temperature. When using, ensure that the liquid medicine is within the appropriate viscosity range for filling, to avoid inaccurate filling caused by high viscosity drugs.
-Bubble control: Bubbles in the medication can affect the accuracy of drug dosage, so it is necessary to reduce bubbles through defoaming devices or heating equipment. During the filling process, special attention should be paid to avoiding air from entering the medicine solution.
3. Temperature and pressure control:
-Temperature control: Excessive or insufficient temperature of the medication may affect its fluidity and filling effect. The equipment needs to maintain a stable temperature control system to ensure that the medication is filled at the appropriate temperature.
-Pressure regulation: Excessive pressure during filling can cause the liquid to overflow, while insufficient pressure may result in inaccurate filling. It is necessary to adjust the appropriate filling pressure according to the properties of the medication.
4. Equipment maintenance:
-Regular inspection and maintenance: The pre filling needle filling machine needs to be regularly maintained, including the inspection and cleaning of components such as pumps, valves, sensors, etc., to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the equipment.
-Replace worn parts: Frequently used components such as filling heads, sealing rings, etc. may wear out due to prolonged use and require regular replacement.
5. Quality control and testing:
-Filling accuracy inspection: Real time monitoring should be carried out during the filling process to ensure that the drug dosage of each pre filled needle meets the standard. The accuracy of filling volume can be checked through electronic scales or visual inspection systems.
-Aseptic inspection: As pre filled needles are directly used for injecting drugs, it is necessary to ensure aseptic operation throughout the entire filling process to prevent cross contamination.
6. Complies with GMP requirements:
-Pre filled needle filling machines must comply with the requirements of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), especially for the pharmaceutical packaging industry. The design and operation standards of the equipment should meet strict hygiene standards to avoid contamination or unqualified products entering the market.
Pre filled needle filling machine is a crucial equipment in pharmaceutical packaging production, especially in the fields of pharmaceuticals and biomedicine. The workflow includes multiple stages such as preparation, filling, testing, sealing, and packaging of the drug solution. During operation, special attention should be paid to equipment cleanliness, drug properties, temperature and pressure control, and quality inspection. To ensure the safety and accuracy of production, operators need to possess professional knowledge and strictly follow the equipment instructions and relevant operating standards.
