The following are the two common causes and solutions of microwave sterilization equipment failures:
Fault 1: Microwave sterilization equipment has abnormal microwave power (unable to start or unstable power)
1. Cause of malfunction
Magnetron damage: Long term high load use or poor heat dissipation may cause aging, cracking, or even burning of the magnetron, directly affecting the generation and output stability of microwaves. For example, if the device continues to operate after overheating, it will accelerate this process;
Blockage/moisture in waveguide system: If foreign objects (such as residual materials), dust or moisture enter the waveguide in the microwave transmission path, it will cause signal attenuation or reflection, resulting in energy loss;
Power module failure: Voltage fluctuations, capacitor failure, or poor contact of power lines may interrupt stable power supply, causing the microwave source to malfunction.
2. Handling method
Replace core components: Regularly check the status of the magnetron and replace the same model of accessories in a timely manner if any abnormalities are found; Clean the dust and impurities inside the waveguide, and blow dry nitrogen to ensure internal dryness;
Optimize the power supply environment: equip with a regulated power supply and check if the circuit connection points are loose. If necessary, reinforce the wiring terminals;
Preventive maintenance: Establish a regular cleaning plan to prevent conductive substances such as metal debris from entering the chamber, while monitoring equipment temperature to prevent overheating operation.
Fault 2: Temperature control failure of microwave sterilization equipment (unable to reach the set value or fluctuating greatly)
1. Cause of malfunction
Sensor malfunction: The temperature probe experiences data acquisition errors due to chemical corrosion, physical wear, or calibration deviation, causing the control system to misjudge the actual temperature;
Decreased sealing performance: Aging of door seals and damage to the sealing ring of the digestion tank can cause heat leakage, especially in high-pressure sterilization mode, where changes in air pressure can exacerbate energy loss;
Improper program parameter settings: Excessive heating rate, insufficient insulation time, or unreasonable power distribution may result in uneven heat distribution inside the cavity.
2. Handling method
Calibration and replacement of sensors: Use standard thermometers to compare and verify the accuracy of sensors. If there is a significant deviation, recalibration or direct replacement is required;
Repair sealing structure: Regularly check the integrity of door seals and tank sealing rings, and replace aging components in a timely manner; For equipment that frequently opens and closes, wear-resistant material seals can be used;
Adjust process parameters: Optimize the PID control algorithm based on load characteristics, set the heating curve in stages, and ensure that there is sufficient clearance for sample placement to promote air circulation.
Through the above targeted measures, the operational stability and sterilization effect of microwave sterilization equipment can be effectively improved. It is recommended to establish equipment logs during daily maintenance, recording abnormal alarm codes and processing procedures, in order to trace the root cause of problems and develop preventive maintenance plans.
