Process flow of microwave sterilization equipment
Date: 2025-09-23Read: 5
The process flow of microwave sterilization equipment is an efficient, precise, and environmentally friendly process. The following are its detailed steps:
1. Pre preparation stage
Set appropriate microwave power, operating time, and temperature parameters based on the characteristics of the item to be processed, such as material, shape, moisture content, etc. At the same time, check the operating status of the equipment to ensure that there are no impurities remaining in the chamber and that the conveyor belt or tray system is operating normally. For batch processing tasks, it is necessary to plan the material placement in advance to ensure uniform energy distribution.
2. Material loading and positioning of microwave sterilization equipment
Place the products that need to be sterilized in an orderly manner into dedicated containers or directly onto a conveyor belt, paying attention to maintaining appropriate spacing to avoid mutual obstruction and affecting the electromagnetic wave penetration effect. Large scale equipment may be equipped with automatic feeding robotic arms to achieve standardized plate swinging; Small laboratory models are usually placed manually by hand. This step requires ensuring that all objects to be processed are within the optimal radiation area.
3. Microwave emission and energy transfer
After starting the device, the magnetron begins to generate a high-frequency AC electric field, which excites the microwave generator inside the cavity to generate electromagnetic waves of a specific frequency. These invisible waves propagate in all directions at the speed of light and are quickly absorbed and converted into thermal energy when encountering polar molecules (mainly water molecules). Due to the large amount of water contained within microbial cells, they become priority targets for heating.
4. Rapid heating and thermal effect killing mechanism of microwave sterilization equipment
With continuous microwave irradiation, the moisture inside the material rapidly vaporizes to form vapor pressure, leading to a sharp increase in temperature. This instantaneous high temperature environment can destroy the protein structure of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and spores, rendering them inactive and achieving the purpose of sterilization. Compared to traditional heating methods, microwave has the characteristic of strong penetration, which can achieve synchronous sterilization inside and outside, and shorten the overall processing time.
5. Humidity control and dehumidification management
During the heating process, a large amount of water vapor and other volatile substances are generated. Excessive moisture can affect sterilization efficiency and may cause condensation droplets to fall and contaminate the processed products. For this reason, modern microwave sterilization devices often integrate forced ventilation systems and condensate collection devices, which timely discharge excess moisture through vacuum or air blowing methods to maintain suitable dryness inside the chamber.
6. Microwave sterilization equipment insulation and pressure consolidation stage
After reaching the preset temperature, enter the constant temperature holding period, and continue to apply microwave to ensure that the heat fully penetrates into the deep layers of the material. Some models also combine pressure regulation technology to further increase the boiling point temperature and enhance the ability to kill heat-resistant bacterial strains by pressurizing the enclosed space. The duration of this stage depends on the specific sterilization requirements of the product.
7. Cooling and Balance Restoration
After completing the sterilization process, gradually reduce the microwave output intensity and allow the material to cool naturally to a safe removal temperature. Rapid cooling may cause deformation of packaging materials or cracking of products, so most equipment will set a gradual cooling curve to ensure a smooth transition of temperature difference between the inside and outside. During this period, the fan can be turned on to assist in heat dissipation and accelerate the cooling process.
8. Quality inspection and packaging for outbound shipment
Take out the processed items for sampling inspection, including microbial culture testing, physical and chemical index analysis, etc. Only after confirming that they are qualified can final packaging be carried out. Unqualified products will be returned for reprocessing. The data generated throughout the entire process will be automatically recorded for traceability purposes, ensuring the traceability of each batch of products.
