Activated carbon filter manufacturer
working principle
Activated carbon filter uses granular activated carbon to further remove residual impurities such as residual chlorine, organic matter, and suspended solids in the effluent of mechanical filters, providing good conditions for subsequent reverse osmosis treatment.
A multi-media filter (also known as a mechanical filter) is a typical multi-media filter that uses layered smokeless coal, sand, fine garnet, or other materials as the bed.
The principle is to filter by depth - larger particles in the water are removed at the top layer, while smaller particles are removed deeper in the filter medium. Thus, the water quality can reach the standard after coarse filtration.
The equipment is pressure type, and its principle is that when raw water passes through the filter material from top to bottom, suspended solids in the water are intercepted by the surface of the filter layer due to adsorption and mechanical flow resistance; When water flows into the middle of the filter layer, due to the tighter arrangement of sand particles in the filter material layer, there are more opportunities for particles in the water to collide with the sand particles. As a result, flocs, suspended solids, and sand particles in the water adhere to each other, and impurities in the water are trapped in the filter material layer, resulting in clear water quality. The suspended solids in the filtered effluent can be below 5 milligrams per liter.

A pressure vessel is a type of pressure vessel filled with activated carbon.
The work is completed through a charcoal bed. The activated carbon particles that make up the carbon bed have many micropores and a huge specific surface area, and have strong physical adsorption capacity. Water passes through a charcoal bed, and organic pollutants in the water are effectively adsorbed by activated carbon. In addition, there are some oxygen-containing functional groups on the non crystalline part of the surface of activated carbon, which effectively adsorb organic pollutants in the water passing through the carbon bed by activated carbon. Activated carbon filter is a commonly used water treatment equipment. As a pre-treatment for desalination systems, it can effectively ensure the service life of downstream equipment, improve effluent quality, prevent pollution, especially prevent free residual chlorine poisoning and pollution from downstream reverse osmosis membranes, ion exchange resins, etc.
The main factors affecting the adsorption efficiency and service life of activated carbon filters are: the type and concentration of pollutants, the residence time of the airflow in the filter material, and the temperature and humidity of the air.
When selecting, the filter form and activated carbon type should be determined based on the type, concentration, and treatment air volume of pollutants.
Both upstream and downstream of the activated carbon filter should have good dust removal filters with an efficiency specification not lower than F7. The upstream filter should prevent dust from blocking the activated carbon material; The downstream filter blocks the dust generated by the activated carbon itself.
