Zeiss Smartzoom 5
Digital optical microscope for automated quality assurance, failure analysis, and research applications
Intelligent design, intelligent workflow, and intelligent connectivity
Digitization has driven the realization of automation in industry and other fields. Similarly, digitization has also achieved automation of optical microscopes. Welcome to the Zeiss Smartzoom 5 digital optical microscope, a one-stop automatic microscope platform that utilizes embedded software solutions to address the traditional limitations of optical microscopes, such as depth of field or reflection on metal surfaces. This optical microscope can assist operators in continuously performing repetitive routine microscope observation tasks. It can be closely interconnected with its surrounding digital environment, not only connecting to other instruments, laboratories, but even to other locations.
Smartzoom 5 is an ideal solution for quality assurance applications, suitable for almost all industrial fields. This microscope is fully automated and workflow oriented, making it easy and fast to set up, and easy to operate, even for beginners
Can easily obtain accurate detection results.
Simpler, smarter, and more highly integrated
Intelligent design
Two components, two cables. The integrated optical module (including zoom engine, panoramic camera, coaxial light source, and encoded mount lens adapter) is connected to the integrated frame through a cable, which includes an electric sample stage and an encoded rocker arm. The mirror frame is connected to the operating system through a USB 3.0 data cable. The operating system is equipped with a touch screen monitor, touchpad, dual knob controller, and/or mouse and keyboard. Users can control the microscope in various ways to meet the various operational preferences of users with different degrees of adaptation to digitization and automation.
Intelligent workflow
With the integrated camera overview image of the optical module, you can easily navigate or browse samples. Setting up the microscope is even easier through a workflow oriented graphical user interface. In addition, using the job generator in Smartzoom 5 software, images and related measurement workflows can be captured on one or more components. Quality engineers can use these intelligent workflows to repetitively execute inspection programs without the need for specialized microscope knowledge, thereby reducing the complexity of microscope operations.
Intelligent Connection
Digitization also means that microscopy technology is no longer an isolated specialized technique. By adopting digital technology, microscope data can be interconnected with other forms of data, allowing operators, laboratories, and even locations to share and summarize information. Therefore, Smartzoom 5 equipped with ZEN core and based on the Zeiss Interconnect Lab software infrastructure is a major component of Zeiss' industrial interconnect microscope product portfolio, suitable for dry multi-mode industrial quality assurance and failure analysis applications.
Depth of field extension and glare reduction
Depth of field and reflection have always been traditional challenges faced by optical microscopes, and anyone who has ever used an optical microscope is deeply impressed. In some detection tasks, depth of field can be enhanced through stereoscopic observation, so reflection may help highlight differences between features or structures on the sample surface. However, when it comes to recording image data, depth of field and reflection may pose real challenges, and simply installing a camera on a microscope is not enough to solve such problems.
Depth of Field Expansion
Smartzoom 5 is equipped with workflow oriented software routines that can automatically capture a set of images on different focal planes, and then reconstruct the images by extending the depth of field, even completing 3D reconstruction of the surface. Due to the use of a telecentric objective lens, distortion in the Z direction is minimized to the greatest extent possible. For images with depth extension or 3D surface projection, they can be saved directly, measured in 2D contours, or imported into ConfoMap for subsequent 3D surface analysis.
Anti glare
All Smartzoom 5 objectives use integrated segmented LED ring illumination, replacing polarizing filters to suppress reflection
Glare on the face. The software will automatically combine images illuminated by segmented circular light in different areas to eliminate the different glare generated in each circular light area. All segmented annular shadowlights of the objective lens can be combined with coaxial shadowlights. The advantage of digital anti glare function is that it can maintain stability and consistency in various applications, which is different from the application of polarizing filters in different directions. The digital anti glare function truly achieves repeatability and is the best choice to replace traditional polarizing filters.
Workflow oriented user interface
Smartzoom 5 is equipped with an easy-to-use graphical user interface. The process of capturing images is arranged in a logical order, that is, from
Capture overview images, to automatic height adjustment and autofocus, and then to a series generated automatically using all shading options
Select 'Best Image' from the column images. Next, collect depth of field extended images or 3D images; Or from "Image Analysis"
Select other functions from the menu. Finally, generate the report and the work is completed!
Overview image
After capturing the overview image, you can use it to assist navigation, such as zooming out at any time to locate or adjust the microscopic observation area of interest, even when placing large components or multiple components on the sample stage.
Recorded testing workflow
Display the recorded images and tools in a clear and intuitive structure, allowing you to have a clear understanding of the entire detection workflow. The system administrator can save this workflow as a 'job', so that operators with little knowledge of microscopes can log in as' regular users' and only access the job macro.
Implement automation through coding
All Smartzoom 5 components come with encoding or are electric components, so you can use software to monitor the working status of each component in real time and save this information along with image data. In addition, Smartzoom 5 is equipped with a user management system that ensures repeatable results by restricting the operational permissions of different operators.
Repeatable workflow
For the most experienced microscopists in academia and research, digitization and automation may not necessarily be beneficial. But for
The engineers in the industrial quality laboratory are very helpful, even though they are not microscopists themselves, they still need to perform quality control
Testing work. The operations of each engineer must be consistent and not subject to changes, otherwise data cannot be correlated between different parts, batches, laboratories, or other locations.
