Multi effect distilled water machine is a core equipment for preparing high-purity water for injection (WFI) and purified water, widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics, etc. It achieves efficient and energy-saving pure water production through a series design of multi-stage evaporation and condensation. Below is an analysis of the working principle, technological advantages, and industry applications.
1、 Working principle
The core principle of a multi effect distilled water machine is the cascade utilization of thermal energy and multi effect evaporation. By connecting multiple evaporators (effect chambers) in series, the latent heat of steam is gradually recovered, significantly reducing energy consumption.
1. Evaporation process:
First effect evaporation: The raw water (purified water after pretreatment) enters the first effect evaporator and is heated to boiling by an external heat source (such as industrial steam or electricity), producing pure steam once.
Secondary steam utilization: The pure steam generated by the first effect enters the second effect evaporator as a heat source to heat the raw water in the second effect, and condenses into distilled water.
Step by step transmission: The subsequent effect chamber repeats this process in sequence, and the latent heat of steam is recovered and utilized step by step. It is usually designed to have 3-6 effects, and the higher the efficiency, the lower the energy consumption.
2. Separation and Purification:
Each evaporator is equipped with a vapor-liquid separation device to remove tiny water droplets and impurities (such as pyrogen and particulate matter) carried in the steam.
The final condensed distilled water is collected after being cooled by a cooler, and its conductivity can be as low as ≤ 1.0 μ S/cm, which meets the requirements of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and USP for injection water.
3. Optimization of heat recovery:
The waste heat from the final steam is preheated through a heat exchanger to further reduce energy consumption.
The system adopts a counterflow design (the direction of the raw water flow is opposite to that of the steam flow) to improve heat transfer efficiency.
2、 Technical advantages
1. Efficient and energy-saving:
Multi effect series connection can reduce energy consumption to 1/3~1/5 of single effect distillation, with significant economic benefits.
Taking the four effect distilled water machine as an example, producing 1 ton of injection water only requires about 80-100 kg of industrial steam (300-400 kg for a single effect).
2. High quality water production:
Through multi-stage evaporation separation, it effectively removes pyrogens, bacteria, and ion impurities, and produces water that meets the standards of water for injection (WFI).
3. Environmental Protection and Automation:
No need for chemical additives, no risk of wastewater discharge pollution.
Integrated PLC control system, real-time monitoring of parameters such as conductivity, temperature, flow rate, etc., supporting data traceability and automated operation.
3、 Industry application scenarios
1. Pharmaceutical industry:
Preparation of water for injection (WFI): used for injection preparation, biological product production, and equipment cleaning.
Aseptic preparations: the core water source for freeze-dried powder injections and vaccine production.
2. Bioengineering:
Key process water for cell culture medium preparation, fermentation tank sterilization, etc.
3. Electronic industry:
Front end pretreatment of ultrapure water (UPW) to meet the high-purity requirements of semiconductor and chip manufacturing.
4. Laboratory and Medical:
Analyze instrument water (such as HPLC), sterilize surgical instruments, etc.
