Key points for selecting powder tablet press molds
Date: 2025-06-11Read: 6
The mold of the powder tablet press is a key component in the powder tablet pressing process, and its quality, design, and usage directly affect the quality and performance of the pressed samples.
Classification of powder tablet press molds:
1. Classify by shape
-Ordinary circular mold: This is a widely used type of mold that is suitable for pressing various powder materials and can prepare standard circular samples. Its structure usually includes a base, mold sleeve, pressure head, and film release sleeve. Some molds are also equipped with optional gaskets to adjust the sample thickness according to demand.
-Square mold: specifically used for pressing square samples, similar in function to circular molds, but more suitable in shape for certain specific application scenarios, such as experiments or production needs that require square structures.
-Infrared mold: mainly designed for infrared spectral analysis, used to compress samples for infrared spectral analysis. Infrared molds can be divided into two types: demoulding and non demoulding, to meet different experimental operation requirements.
2. Classify by material
-Metal material molds: Common ones include hard alloy molds, etc. Hard alloys have the characteristics of high hardness and strong wear resistance, and can withstand large pressures, making them suitable for pressing powder materials with high hardness requirements, such as metal powders, ceramic powders, etc. However, metal materials may undergo chemical reactions with certain powders, so careful selection is necessary when using them.
-Ceramic material mold: It has good corrosion resistance and chemical stability, and will not react with most powders. It is commonly used to press powder materials that are prone to reacting with metals, such as some active metal powders or special ceramic powders. However, ceramic molds are relatively brittle and should avoid being subjected to significant impact forces during use.
Key points for selecting powder tablet press molds:
1. Selection based on powder characteristics: Different powder materials have different physical and chemical properties, such as hardness, particle size, flowability, corrosiveness, etc. When choosing a mold, it is necessary to consider the compatibility between the powder and the mold material to avoid chemical reactions or adhesion issues. For example, for powders with strong corrosiveness, corrosion-resistant ceramic material molds should be selected.
2. Selection based on sample shape and size requirements: If specific shapes and sizes of samples need to be prepared, molds of corresponding shapes and specifications should be selected. At the same time, attention should be paid to the accuracy and tolerance range of the mold to ensure that the pressed sample meets the requirements.
3. Consider pressing process parameters: Parameters such as pressure and temperature in the pressing process can also affect the selection of molds. For example, in high-pressure compression, it is necessary to choose hard alloy molds or high-strength ceramic molds that can withstand high pressure.
