Usage and maintenance methods of powder tablet press molds
Date: 2025-06-24Read: 6
The powder tablet press mold generally consists of the following parts:
1. Base: It plays a role in supporting the entire mold, providing a stable foundation for the mold, and ensuring that the mold will not shake or shift during the pressing process.
2. Mold sleeve: It is a cavity that accommodates powder materials, and its inner diameter determines the diameter of the pressed sample. The accuracy and surface roughness of the mold sleeve have a significant impact on the quality of the sample. A mold sleeve with high accuracy and smooth surface can make the size of the pressed sample more accurate and the appearance smoother.
3. Pressure head: used to apply pressure to powder, so that the powder is compacted and formed inside the mold sleeve. The shape and size of the indenter need to match the mold sleeve to ensure that the pressure can be evenly applied to the powder, thereby obtaining a sample with uniform density.
4. Film removal sleeve: After compression is completed, it helps to push the formed sample out of the mold sleeve for easy sampling. The design of the film release sleeve should be reasonable, able to smoothly push out the sample without causing damage to the sample.
Use and maintenance of powder tablet press molds:
1. Precautions for use
-Before use, it is necessary to clean the mold to ensure that there are no impurities or residues inside the mold, so as not to affect the quality of the sample.
-Adjust the filling amount and pressure of the mold reasonably based on the characteristics of the powder and the required sample thickness. Excessive pressure may cause damage to the mold or cracks in the sample, while insufficient pressure may result in insufficient density of the sample, affecting its performance.
-During the pressing process, it is important to ensure that the powder is evenly distributed within the mold to avoid significant differences in local density. This can be achieved by gently shaking the mold or using a tool to scrape the powder evenly.
2. Maintenance methods
-After each use of the mold, residual powder inside the mold should be promptly cleaned to prevent powder from clumping or corroding the mold. Special brushes or hair dryers can be used for cleaning.
-Regularly inspect the mold to check for wear, deformation, or damage. For minor wear, repair or grinding treatment can be carried out; For severely damaged molds, they need to be replaced in a timely manner to ensure the quality of the pressed samples.
-When storing molds, attention should be paid to avoiding contamination such as moisture and dust. The molds can be placed in a dry and ventilated place and wrapped with protective covers or packaging materials.
