The process principle of laboratory low-temperature spray dryer is based on the combination of material atomization and low-temperature heat exchange, which can be divided into the following core links:
1、 Atomization stage
Liquid materials are transported to the atomization device through high-pressure pumps or peristaltic pumps, forming tiny droplets. Common atomization methods include:
Pressure spray: use high pressure (70~200 atmospheric pressure) to force the liquid through the nozzle to form 10~200 micron droplets.
Centrifugal spray: centrifugal force is generated by the high-speed rotating disc to disperse the liquid into micron sized droplets.
Electrostatic atomization (special application): Using electrostatic force to refine droplets to below 5 microns, suitable for sensitive materials.
2、 Low temperature heat exchange and drying
The atomized droplets come into contact with hot air in a drying chamber, and the moisture evaporates rapidly. Low temperature control is achieved through the following methods:
The hot air temperature is usually controlled at 35-50 ℃ to avoid high temperature damage to material activity;
The material is always in a low-temperature environment during the drying process and can be dehydrated in just a few seconds.
3、 Gas solid separation and collection
The dried solid particles are separated from the exhaust gas by a gas-solid separation system (such as a cyclone separator or dust removal device), and finally obtain ultrafine powder or particles in the collector.
4、 System composition
The equipment core includes: atomization device (nozzle/centrifugal disk/electrostatic generator), hot air circulation system, drying chamber, gas powder separation unit and collector.
This process ensures drying speed and largely preserves the original characteristics of materials such as bioactive substances and thermosensitive components by precisely controlling atomization efficiency and hot air temperature.
