Common faults and solutions of fully automatic vertical box packing machine

As the core equipment of modern packaging production lines, the highly efficient and stable operation of fully automatic vertical box packing machines directly affects production efficiency. However, in long-term high load operations, mechanical wear, changes in material properties, or improper operation may lead to malfunctions. Based on typical fault scenarios, analyze the causes and provide targeted solutions.
1、 Paper box suction and forming failure
Fault phenomenon: The suction head cannot suck up the paper box or the paper box cannot be formed after unfolding.
Cause analysis: Paper box adhesion, insufficient suction pressure, or offset position of guide rod.
Solution:
Check if the cardboard box warehouse is neatly stacked to avoid multi-layer adhesion;
Calibrate the suction head pressure to the standard value (usually stable at 0.4-0.6MPa);
Adjust the parallelism between the guide rod and the template to ensure smooth passage of the paper box.
2、 Abnormal product loading
Fault phenomenon: The product is stuck or inaccurately positioned, resulting in packaging failure.
Reason analysis: mismatched conveyor belt speed, decreased sensor sensitivity, or material size deviation.
Solution:
Synchronize the adjustment of conveyor belt and pushing plate speed to avoid excessive accumulation;
Clean the dust on the surface of the photoelectric sensor and recalibrate the detection threshold;
Add pre positioning devices to irregular materials to ensure consistent loading.
3、 Poor sealing or leakage
Fault phenomenon: The carton seal is cracked or not tightly sealed.
Cause analysis: Low sealing temperature, insufficient pressure, or abnormal adhesive volume.
Solution:
Adjust the heat sealing temperature according to the material of the paper box (such as 120-150 ℃ for kraft paper);
Check for air leakage in pneumatic components to ensure even sealing pressure;
Regularly clean the glue valve to prevent uneven glue application caused by glue blockage.
4、 Control system alarm shutdown
Fault phenomenon: The equipment suddenly stops, and the touch screen displays a fault code.
Cause analysis: PLC program error, power fluctuation, or accidental triggering of emergency stop switch.
Solution:
Restart the device and reset the emergency stop button;
Check the stability of the power supply voltage and install a voltage regulator if necessary;
Contact the manufacturer to update the PLC program and fix logical conflicts.
5、 Transmission system stuttering
Fault phenomenon: The turntable or chain intermittently pauses, accompanied by abnormal noise.
Cause analysis: Insufficient bearing lubrication, gear wear, or foreign objects getting stuck.
Solution:
Regularly replenish high-temperature lubricating grease (recommended once a month);
Replace worn gears or chains, adjust tension;
Clean up residual paper scraps or adhesive stains on transmission components.
6、 Preventive maintenance recommendations
Daily inspection: Verify the air pressure, temperature, and sensor status before starting up;
Regular maintenance: replace vulnerable parts (such as suction heads and sealing rings) every quarter;
Operating standards: Avoid overloading and ensure that materials meet equipment specifications.
Through systematic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, the stability of the packaging machine can be significantly improved, and unplanned downtime can be reduced.
