Application of flange clamp vortex flowmeter
The VFM series card mounted vortex flowmeter is mainly used for flow measurement of industrial pipeline media fluids, such as gases, liquids, vapors, and other media. Its characteristics are small pressure loss, large range, high accuracy, and almost unaffected by parameters such as fluid density, pressure, temperature, viscosity, etc. when measuring volumetric flow rate under working conditions. No movable mechanical parts, therefore high reliability and low maintenance. The instrument parameters can remain stable for a long time. This instrument uses piezoelectric stress sensors with high reliability and can operate within a temperature range of -20 ℃ to+250 ℃. The measurement of compressed air flow meters is a large-scale and wide-ranging measurement task in enterprises. Temperature and pressure compensation in gas flow measurement is already an old topic, but the more we discuss it, the deeper our understanding will be. The purpose of temperature and pressure compensation in measurement is to correct the influence of the general gas density on the measurement results when the gas operating conditions deviate from the design operating conditions. Because natural gas is in a gaseous state, its density undergoes significant changes when its temperature and pressure fluctuate. Without compensation, the resulting errors can be significant. For example, if the design pressure is 1MPa (gauge pressure), when the pressure drops to 0.8MPa, the density drops to 82% of the design value. If temperature and pressure compensation is not performed, the impact on the differential pressure flowmeter is to increase the reading by 10.4%, while the impact on the vortex flowmeter is to increase the reading by 21.9%. Obviously, for flow measurement objects with temperature and pressure changes, in addition to direct mass flow meters, temperature and pressure compensation must be performed.

Principle of Compressed Air Flow Meter

According to the principle of Karman vortex, a non streamlined blocking fluid inserted vertically into the fluid is used to generate vortex diversion. When the fluid passes around a non streamlined cylinder, due to the instability of the boundary layer, the vortices separated by the object have a certain regularity. When the Reynolds number is high, the vortex forms and separates on one side of the cylinder, and the other side cannot form a vortex. Only when one side of the vortex is separated from the cylinder by a certain distance, can the other side form a vortex. So, as the fluid continues to flow, alternating and regular vortex columns are formed on both sides of the cylinder for detection. That is, piezoelectric crystals are used to detect the vortex frequency generated when the fluid passes through the triangular column inside the pipeline, and the flow rate of the fluid is measured.

Methods to reduce errors:

When the total compressed air flow meter is installed before the pressure reducing valve, there is no phase change problem when the steam is not reduced. Therefore, installing the flow meter before the pressure reducing valve and treating it according to the saturated steam compensation method can ensure measurement accuracy.

If the flowmeter can only be installed behind the pressure reducing valve, an additional pressure transmitter can be installed for temperature and pressure compensation.

If the pressure stabilizing performance of the pressure reducing valve is good, the upstream pressure value of the flowmeter can be set as a constant value (through panel operation) in the secondary meter for temperature and pressure compensation.

Precautions for installation of compressed air flow meter:

The correct installation of instruments is an important part of ensuring their normal operation. If not installed properly, it can affect the accuracy of instrument use, and in severe cases, it can affect the service life of instruments and even damage them.

Installation environment requirements for vortex flowmeter:

1. Try to avoid strong electrical equipment, high-frequency equipment, and strong switching power supply equipment as much as possible. The power supply of the instrument should be separated from these devices as much as possible.

2. Avoid direct effects of high temperature heat sources and radiation sources. If installation is necessary, insulation and ventilation measures must be taken.

3. Avoid high humidity and highly corrosive gas environments. If installation is necessary, ventilation measures must be taken.

4. Vortex flow meters should be avoided from being installed on pipelines with strong vibrations as much as possible. If installation is necessary, pipeline fastening devices must be installed at 2D upstream and downstream locations, and anti vibration pads must be added to enhance the anti vibration effect.

5. The instrument should be installed indoors, and attention should be paid to waterproofing when installing outdoors. Special attention should be paid to bending the cable into a U-shape at the electrical interface to prevent water from entering the amplifier housing along the cable. There should be ample space around the instrument installation point for wiring installation and regular maintenance.

I. Overview

When gas enters the flowmeter, it first passes through the leading structure of the independent movement and accelerates. Under the action of the fluid, due to the angle between the turbine blades and the fluid flow direction, the turbine generates rotational torque. After overcoming the resistance torque and friction torque, the turbine begins to rotate. When the various torques reach equilibrium, the speed stabilizes, and the rotational speed of the turbine is linearly related to the flow rate. By periodically changing the magnetic resistance of the sensor through the magnet on the rotating transmission disk, pulse signals with frequencies proportional to the fluid volume flow rate are induced at both ends of the sensor. The signal is amplified by a preamplifier, shaped, and simultaneously transmitted to the flow integrator for processing along with the pressure and temperature signals detected by the pressure and temperature sensors, directly displaying the standard volume flow rate and the total standard volume.

1. Selection instructions

Selection of Compressed Air Flow Meter:

Compressed air is the primary secondary power source for enterprises and institutions, and most of the petroleum electricity or heat energy is converted through compressors. The primary focus of compressed air flow measurement is to strengthen the management of power conversion, save power, and improve the level of equipment management in enterprises and institutions undergoing structural reform.

There are some difficulties and doubts in measuring compressed air flow, and dealing with these difficulties is the key to measuring compressed air flow.
1. High vibration
In some working conditions, the flow meter device on site is located in the compression plant and blower room. Extreme oscillations can be transmitted to distant places through air pipelines or ducts, causing the lever type differential pressure transmitter fulcrum to move, causing the flow meter to drift and resulting in significantly higher flow readings.
2. Water in the air
Compressed air is taken from the atmosphere, which is somewhat rich in a certain amount of water vapor. In rainy or foggy weather, when the partial pressure of water vapor in the outdoor atmosphere reaches a saturation level, we compress the atmosphere. It is appropriate to compress the sponge filled with water in the same way, and as the volume decreases, an appropriate amount of water will be separated. In a favorable climate, the atmospheric humidity is relatively low, but as it is compressed, the partial pressure of water vapor will increase accordingly, and water droplets may also be separated.
3. Contains pulsating flow
The outlet fluid of compressors and blowers mostly includes a certain pulsating flow, and on site we can see significant fluctuations in the outlet pressure of compressors and blowers. This pulsating flow can cause the readings of vortex flowmeters and differential pressure flowmeters to be higher, resulting in the float in the metal tube float flowmeter shaking up and down.
