Maintaining the accuracy of the probe is crucial.When using the scanning probe compensation function (ElG 456), the thickness of the probe cover is excluded from any coating thickness measurement, and the effect of this wear is also calculated due to the wear of the probe cover during use The instrument can even display a warning message to notify users when to replace the probe cover.
Scanning mode
※After selecting the scanning mode *, users can slide the scanning probe throughout the entire surface area.
※When the probe leaves the surface, the thickness gauge displays the average coating thickness value, * high thickness value, and * low thickness value.
※Each group of three readings (average, high, low) can be displayed on a trend chart and stored in memory.
※During the scanning period, the Jig 456 displays real-time thickness readings and simulated bar charts.
※This graph displays the thickness related to nominal thickness and any user-defined limits.

Automatic Repeat Mode:When the scanning probe slides over the coating surface in automatic repeat mode *, a reading can be generated every half second. Individual readings are stored in memory.With a reading rate of over 140 readings per minute, the automatic repeat mode can accelerate the inspection of large coating areas.
Fixed array size:The fixed array size feature of the advanced version of the Engel 456 allows users to define the maximum number of reads in each array. Once the maximum reading quantity is reached, the instrument will automatically activate a new array (name-1, name-2, etc.) related to the previous array.

Compliance with standards and testing methods
International standards and testing methods typically describe the number of single readings obtained by an instrument during a single point measurement process and/or the required point measurements within a determined surface area. ※SSPC PA2 requires at least three readings to be taken at each instrument point, and five point measurements to be performed within a range of 10m2 (~100ft2). ※The Sigma 456 S or T can be set with three count averages and five fixed array sizes to meet such requirements. ※Each array corresponds to a measurement area. ※After connecting the scanning probe to the selected automatic repeat mode T-type, the completion speed of SSPC PA2 (or similar testing method) can be increased by 40%. |
