The MiG 506 is a lightweight, portable, and easy-to-use adhesion tester that can provide analog or digital adhesion testing The coating suitable for measuring pull-out adhesion on site or in the laboratory is 50MPa (7250psi). The design of the Hikmeter 506 ensures easy and uniform application of pressure throughout the entire range when rotating the hand crank, ensuring repeatable results with an accuracy of ± 1%. The Engel 506 quickly connects 14.2, 20, and 50mm diameter forging die connectors and a variety of accessories, allowing coating adhesion testing on flat, curved, thick, and thin substrates - including metal, wood, concrete, and other fiber materials. The test head (brake) of the Hikmeter 506 has been designed to be small, ergonomic, and easy to carry - making it an ideal choice for one handed testing of coating adhesion, even in awkward or confined spaces. Safety testing on vertical surfaces is also taken into account. By using a magnetic cable clamp attachment, the brake can be securely held - preventing accidental damage to the surrounding area.

Evaluate adhesion testing

If the pull-out test is effective, the coating should cover at least 50% of the forging die surface. If the instrument malfunctions and there is no coating on the forging die, or the coating only covers less than 50% of the forging die surface, the pull-out test is invalid and should be retested.When each layer of coating has peeled off and the same coating remains on the forging die and test panel, it is called 'adhesive failure'.When the interface between the coating and another layer of coating falls off (leaving one layer of coating on the forging die and another layer of coating on the substrate), or when the coating on the substrate has already fallen off (leaving a coating on the forging die and no coating on the substrate), "delamination" will occur.pourIf the adhesive detachment value is higher than the specified value, it can be reported that the adhesion has exceeded the specified value for a single test.




Coating testing of low adhesion substrates
When testing coatings on low adhesion substrates such as concrete, wood, or other fiber materials, the surface area of the forging die needs to be larger to improve accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility. The Engel 506 Concrete Adhesion Tester is supplied as a set or with a single 50mm accessory (support ring, forging die, cutting knife), which can be added to the Engel 506 instrument.



Surface and forging die pretreatment
1. Choose a flat testing area that is large enough to accommodate the adhesion tester.

2. Grind the forging die and surface, remove dust from the surface - minimize the risk of "bonding" failure as much as possible.

3. Mix the adhesive correctly and apply the adhesive film evenly on the entire forging die surface.
4. According to the testing standard requirements, the forging die needs to be pulled vertically on the testing surface. Therefore, the forging die needs to be attached to the pre treated test plane (see the following picture).

Apply pressure evenly to the forging die to ensure that the die surface is parallel to the test surface.

5. Remove excess adhesive from around the forging die to fully cure it. During the curing process, when attaching a forging die to a vertical surface, a test strip is required.
6. When necessary, after the forging die is completely cured, use the provided forging die cutter to cut the coating around the forging die.
7. Connect the brake to the forging die and start testing.
