Suitable for rapid XRF elemental analysis, X-ray imaging scanning, and high-definition optical scanning of marine and lake sediment cores, drilling rock core samples, and other tree and column samples
The Itrax sediment core scanning analyzer (also known as the Itrax core density and element analysis system, Itrax core XRF scanner, XRF core element scanner, core X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy scanner, core scanning X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, etc.) developed by Cox Analytical Systems in collaboration with Southampton Oceanography Centre in the UK combines three technologies: micro X-ray fluorescence analysis, digital X-ray micro radio imaging, and optical imaging. It is used for non-contact scanning analysis of sediment columns (cores), providing high-quality and complete data without damaging the samples. Maintain the originality and integrity of the sample.
Advantages of Itrax Core Analyzer:
·The fast XRF analyzer can complete the scanning analysis of a 1-meter sediment sample core in just 10 minutes, and the high-quality data is superior to the data obtained by other devices in 30 minutes.
·Good element detection rate (high sensitivity)
·The horizontal resolution can range from 1 centimeter to 0.1 millimeters
·An analyzer that integrates three technologies: X-ray Fluorescence, Digital X-ray Micro Radiography, and Optical Imaging
·Provide simultaneous detection of multiple elements
·Provide peak area measurement and concentration output
·Provide digital X-ray imaging technology, directly input into the computer, with high-quality images superior to film
·Provide a complete set of software, instrument automation work, simultaneous analysis of multiple samples, and automatic generation of reports
·Stable, able to work continuously for 24 hours
Core analyzer scanning data analysis:
Element accuracy
Accuracy is a measure used to evaluate whether XRF can accurately analyze the composition and concentration of elements in a sample. The sensitivity of XRF reaches ppm level, and Figure 1 shows the trend of element concentration changes in sediments of oceans, lakes, and estuaries.

Deep sea sediment cores, with curves representing the concentration changes of elements from top to bottom: Fe, Ca, K, Si, Al

Lake sediment cores, with curves from top to bottom representing the concentration changes of elements: Zn, Ni, Sr/Ca

The sediment cores from the estuary represent the concentration changes of pollutants such as Pb, As, and Zn, as indicated by the top to bottom curves
Industry applications:
Ocean (lakes, estuaries, glaciers) sediment cores (columns) (length 1.8 meters, diameter 60 to 120 millimeters)
