The modern supersonic airflow pulverizer was created successively after the gradual improvement and promotion of power machinery such as steam engines and electric motors. In 1806, a roller crusher driven by a steam engine appeared; In 1858, Blake from the United States invented the jaw crusher for breaking rocks; In 1878, the United States developed a gyratory crusher with continuous crushing action, which had a higher production efficiency than the jaw crusher with intermittent crushing action; In 1895, William of the United States invented a low-energy impact crusher.
At the same time, grinding machinery also developed accordingly, with the emergence of widely used ball mills in the early 19th century; In 1870, a rod mill with uniform discharge particle size was developed based on the ball mill; In 1908, a self grinding machine was created that did not require grinding media. In the 1930s and 1950s, the United States and Germany successively developed vertical shaft medium speed coal mills such as bowl mills and disc mills.

The emergence of supersonic airflow crushers greatly improves the efficiency of crushing operations. However, due to the different crushing characteristics of various materials, different industries have different particle size requirements for products. Therefore, various supersonic airflow crushers have been developed for crushing operations based on different working principles, such as small crushers, mechanical crushers, mixers, airflow crushers, classifiers, double helix cone mixers, dust removal equipment, etc.

When compressed air passes through the feeding injector and crushes the raw materials into the crushing chamber, there are several crushing nozzles on the periphery of the crushing chamber, spraying supersonic airflow to form a high-speed airflow trajectory, causing the powder to be subjected to high-speed impact, compression and other forces of the airflow, causing the powder to collide and rub against each other and crush. In the crushing chamber, due to the centrifugal force, it also plays a role in grading, timely separating ultrafine particles. Coarse particles continue to move in a high-speed circular motion in the crushing chamber under the centrifugal force and are further crushed until the particle size is small enough to separate.
Performance Characteristics
1. Suitable for dry ultrafine process, due to the high impact velocity, which can reach over 2 Mach, it is generally easy to obtain particles of 1-10 microns.
2. Due to the self classification inside the crusher, coarse particles in the product are continuously circulated and crushed, thus obtaining products with uniform particles and narrow particle size distribution range.
During the crushing process, due to the rapid expansion of compressed air, the temperature drops, making it suitable for crushing low melting point, thermosensitive materials. It also plays a role in mixing and dispersing during the crushing process.
